sloppy knots in chiyoda-ku

Been anticipating a typhoon the past couple of days and in this anticipation I’ve made an embroidery and tied all my colors with sloppy knots—it’s nothing special, just a design of circular patterns that somewhat maybe resemble stones or petals of a flower. Mostly I wanted to play with colors—earthy colors, browns tans beige and pinks, a sky blue, slate and lead grays, a deep orange and various shades of muted greens.  Inspired by a piece of fabric I saw in the Nippori fabric district that looked nothing like it—a pastel yellow sheer tulle-type material, with a bright silky white yellow green flower pattern and crystals sewed onto it. There was also the same pattern in purple, a pale almost-gray purple. It was nothing to write home about (but I guess, something to write tumblr about); yet for some reason it triggered me into this colour-filled nonsense and well now I mean I keep thinking about spiders weaving their webs and how what I’m doing (especially if I am crocheting) is not that far different, sans using my weavings for catching my dinner. Walking around the Shinjuku National Garden I saw a lopsided web between two sakura trees sparkling in the setting sun hanging above the begging koi. This, along with walking along to the soundtrack of cicada-kazoo death-cries, has been my social life.
